About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Part-time Inpatient Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton, VA. This position is part-time, requiring 40 hours every two weeks, with rotating 8-hour shifts, every other weekend, and holiday rotation. Sentara CarePlex Hospital is a 224-bed technologically advanced, acute care facility and Certified Primary Stroke Center, offering specialized services in heart and vascular, urologic care, advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, a hospitalist program, and one of the state's busiest emergency departments. It is also home to the Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. Requirements

  • A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Virginia Pharmacy Tech License

Nice To Haves

  • CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB)
  • Previous Pharmacy Experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
  • Fill and deliver medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  • Triage and escalate any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
  • Use appropriate systems for processing patient information.
  • Ensure quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
  • Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
