About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Flexi Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA. This role involves performing care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Responsibilities include filling and delivering medications, ensuring adequate supplies, triaging and escalating issues, using appropriate systems for patient information, and maintaining quality assurance according to departmental and legal requirements. The trainee will also operate pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Requirements

• Registered Pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice.
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program and certification as a technician-in-training within 30 days of hire is required
• Must register as a pharmacy technician-in-training in the state of practice
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Enrollment in an approved pharmacy technician training program or Guild Program

Responsibilities

• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
