About The Position
Maintains and ensures complete and appropriate drug therapy in a multidisciplinary pharmaceutical care environment. Prepares, dispenses, and verifies medications ordered for an assigned group of patients, using safe, rational, and cost-effective therapeutic decision-making. Assesses, evaluates, and monitors patient drug therapy, and provides drug information, patient education, and other clinical pharmacy services. The role also manages pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations and applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements. This is a PRN position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Current pharmacy license in the state of practice.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, role-specific software, and keyboard use.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and professionally to individuals at varying levels throughout patient care.
- Skills necessary to compound pharmaceuticals and operate technical equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of Medium Work, including exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
- Ability to stoop, bend, reach, and grasp with arms and hands, and to demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including availability for 24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays, and on-call work.
- Ability to travel throughout and between facilities as work may require.
- May be called upon to perform or assist with emergency care or first aid; may work with patients with known or suspected communicable diseases, enter isolation rooms, and encounter hazardous medications or hazardous waste.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate physician orders through clinical assessment of the patient, including consideration of allergies, age, renal function, concomitant drug therapy, lab values, approved dosing guidelines, best-practice protocols, diagnosis, and physical clinical status.
- Ensure the safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products and investigational drugs.
- Manage drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes through interventions, adverse drug reaction assessment, chart reviews, target drug reviews, patient education, and drug information.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge, licensure, and certifications through continuing education.
- Manage pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Adapt behavior and communication to the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, explaining services or procedures, requesting permission, and adapting communication style.
- Remain knowledgeable about applicable laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements, and ensure compliance.
- Report known or suspected unethical or questionable conduct and concerns related to patient or employee safety, privacy, or compliance.
- Perform other related duties as required.
