About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist for a 13-week travel assignment in Chico, California. This position is ideal for a pharmacist with recent hospital experience in an inpatient, decentralized pharmacy setting who can apply strong clinical judgment to medication review, verification, and patient-specific therapy decisions. The pharmacist will work closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to support safe, effective, and appropriate medication therapy throughout the hospital. Candidates must hold an active California pharmacist license in good standing and have at least 1 year of hospital inpatient pharmacy experience.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Pharmacist license in the State of California, in good standing
  • Minimum 1 year of hospital inpatient pharmacy experience
  • Experience working in an inpatient decentralized pharmacy setting
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong knowledge of medications, dosing, interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects
  • Demonstrated ability to apply clinical judgment to medication-related decisions
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy software and computerized medication systems
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based applications

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify inpatient medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, allergies, interactions, duplication, dosing, and contraindications.
  • Evaluate medication regimens using clinical judgment and current drug knowledge.
  • Provide decentralized clinical pharmacy support to assigned patient-care areas.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals regarding medication therapy.
  • Make appropriate medication-related recommendations based on patient condition, laboratory values, renal function, and treatment goals.
  • Monitor medication therapies for effectiveness and potential adverse effects.
  • Support medication reconciliation and transitions of care when required.
  • Verify medications prepared or entered by pharmacy technicians and other authorized staff.
  • Review and manage IV medications, antibiotics, anticoagulants, and other high-risk therapies according to facility protocols.
  • Provide drug-information support to healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with formulary management and therapeutic substitutions as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely pharmacy documentation.
  • Utilize hospital pharmacy software and electronic systems efficiently.
  • Follow medication-safety standards and hospital policies.
  • Support controlled-substance accountability and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary communication and patient-care activities.
  • Respond to urgent medication needs and clinical emergencies when pharmacy support is required.
