About The Position

The RN Inpatient Nurse Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for nursing services within a Florida behavioral health hospital and addiction treatment center. This position supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Behavioral Health Technicians, and other assigned staff while overseeing safe, effective, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care for individuals receiving inpatient psychiatric, crisis stabilization, detoxification, and substance use disorder treatment services.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida, or eligibility to obtain Florida RN licensure prior to employment.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional nursing experience required, with experience in inpatient behavioral health, psychiatric, crisis stabilization, detoxification, substance use disorder treatment, or addiction recovery services strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory, charge nurse, nurse manager, or comparable nursing leadership experience required.
  • Applicant must maintain active Florida RN licensure and meet all organizational, regulatory, and continuing education requirements applicable to inpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment services.
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Annual maintenance of licenses, and certifications.
  • Completion and maintenance of required training, competencies, licensure, certifications, and continuing education in accordance with Florida requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and clinical oversight for inpatient nursing operations, including psychiatric, crisis stabilization, detoxification, and addiction recovery services.
  • Supervise, coach, and support RNs, LPNs, Behavioral Health Technicians, and other assigned team members to ensure safe staffing, effective patient care, and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Ensure timely nursing assessment, triage, care planning, medication administration, withdrawal monitoring, vital sign review, and response to changes in patient condition.
  • Coordinate with physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary treatment teams to support individualized, medically appropriate, and clinically integrated care.
  • Respond to medical and behavioral health emergencies, including withdrawal complications, medication reactions, accidental injuries, psychiatric escalation, and other urgent patient care needs.
  • Promote a safe, therapeutic, trauma-informed environment that supports patient dignity, de-escalation, infection prevention, suicide risk mitigation, and recovery-focused care.
  • Monitor medication practices, medication occurrences, documentation accuracy, and corrective action processes in accordance with applicable Florida nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and organizational policy.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules, daily assignments, and coverage plans to support patient acuity, census needs, regulatory expectations, and budgetary guidelines, including appropriate management of overtime.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, competency validation, coaching, performance management, and retention efforts for nursing and behavioral health support staff.
  • Ensure staff complete required orientation, annual competencies, continuing education, crisis prevention training, and other assigned learning within required timeframes.
  • Complete all evaluations and required status notices in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, huddles, education sessions, and communication forums to promote accountability, teamwork, patient safety, and consistent practice across shifts.
  • Support compliance with applicable Florida regulations, accreditation standards, infection prevention expectations, patient rights requirements, and organizational policies governing inpatient behavioral health and addiction treatment services.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, quality reviews, incident reviews, root cause analyses, and performance improvement initiatives related to safety, documentation, patient outcomes, and staff practice.
  • Demonstrates interest in long term and short-term goals and objectives of the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Hospital Administrator, Program Director, Vice President, or other executive leadership.
