Inpatient Nurse Educator - Emergency Department

About The Position

Provides clinical education and training for inpatient nursing teams within Cherokee Nation Health Services. Ensures staff competency in acute care procedures, patient safety standards, and evidence-based practices for hospital-based care.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school in nursing and ten (10) years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree in nursing with five (five) years of experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in emergency nursing, with at least two (2) in an educational or mentoring role.

  • Ability to foster teamwork.
  • Must possess a license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or possess a multistate RN license accepted by the OBN, no substitutions. Must maintain license throughout employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS); must be obtained during orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Must possess or obtain Emergency Nurses Association Trauma Nursing Core Course within orientation period and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must possess or obtain Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Fetal Monitoring Class – within 12 months of hire OR proof of completion within the last two years and maintain throughout employment.
  • Must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • A driver's license may be required to work in some departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • Required to meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.

Nice To Haves

  • AHA Instructor preferred (for BLS, ACLS)
  • ENA Instructor preferred (for Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • AWHONN Instructor preferred (for Fetal Monitoring Class)
  • Possession of Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support (STABLE) preferred.
  • STABLE Instructor preferred.
