Inpatient GI - Weekender NP/PA
About The Position
The APP would be responsible for covering Pineville Hospital and UW Hospital from 6am-7pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) with a schedule of Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. The setting is inpatient, located at Atrium Health Pineville & University Hospitals. The role includes weekend daytime call coverage (6 a.m.–7 p.m.), shared with one GI APP, and some holidays are required on a rotational basis. The APP will provide inpatient gastroenterology care, including consults and ongoing patient management, with an average patient volume of 18–20 patients per day. Responsibilities include performing PEG tube exchanges/placements in endoscopy as applicable, collaborating closely with GI physicians, APP colleagues, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in an acute care environment. The weekend staffing model includes 1 GI physician and 2 APPs. This is a great opportunity within a large, established GI group with 32 physicians and 38 APPs, offering supportive leadership and experienced colleagues, with opportunities for leadership involvement and committee participation.
Requirements
- Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required (no new graduates)
- Active or eligible North Carolina licensure
- Strong interest in comprehensive inpatient gastroenterology care
