Inpatient GI - Weekender NP/PA
About The Position
The APP would be responsible for covering Pineville Hospital and UW Hospital from 6am-7pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) with a schedule of Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. The setting is inpatient, and the location is Atrium Health Pineville & University Hospitals. Call coverage includes weekend daytime call (6 a.m.–7 p.m.), shared with one GI APP. Some holidays are required on a rotational basis. The role involves providing inpatient gastroenterology care, including consults and ongoing patient management, with an average patient volume of 18–20 patients per day. The APP will also perform PEG tube exchanges/placements in endoscopy as applicable and collaborate closely with GI physicians, APP colleagues, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an acute care environment. The team and practice environment includes a weekend staffing model with 1 GI physician and 2 APPs, a large, established GI group with 32 physicians and 38 APPs, supportive leadership, and experienced colleagues, with opportunities for leadership involvement and committee participation.
Requirements
- Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required (no new graduates)
- Active or eligible North Carolina licensure
- Strong interest in comprehensive inpatient gastroenterology care
