About The Position

Guidehouse is seeking a Remote Inpatient Coder to join their General Coding team. This role involves maintaining a working knowledge of coding principles, governmental regulations, and third-party requirements. The coder will be responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10/PCS codes to services documented in patient charts and ensuring proper documentation is obtained in a timely manner. The position requires achieving and maintaining 95% accuracy in coding while meeting productivity standards of 3 IP charts per hour. These productivity standards are subject to change based on client agreements and management decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years+ previous work experience coding hospital acute care Inpatient records.
  • CCS, RHIT or RHIA Certification from AHIMA required.
  • Must have experience working in systems such as EPIC, Cerner, Optum and/or 3M.
  • Must have good working knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology as well as Medical Terminology.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Coding clinics ICD-10-CM and PCS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with CDI and physician queries.
  • Has ability to analyze Provider documentation and assign codes accurately.
  • Strong knowledge and application of Government and other payer guidelines as they relate to compliant coding.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-9-10 PCS and CPT coding principles, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third-party requirements regarding documentation and billing.
  • Assures that all services documented in the patient’s chart are coded with appropriate ICD-10/PCS codes.
  • Seeks to attain proper documentation in a timely manner according to facility standards when services/diagnoses are not documented appropriately.
  • Achieves and maintains 95% accuracy in coding while maintaining a high level of productivity.
  • Maintains average productivity standards of 3 IP charts per hour.
