About The Position

The Inpatient Coder reviews, analyzes, and assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS/CPT diagnostic and procedure codes for inpatient and observation encounters. The role supports the integrity of patient medical records and optimal reimbursement while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines, including CMS, UHDDS, and official coding guidelines. The coder collaborates with providers, clinical documentation improvement specialists, and other HIM staff to address documentation issues and promote complete, accurate, and timely coding.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may be considered instead.
• CCS, CPC, RHIT, RHIA, or equivalent certification required within six months of hire or placement.

Nice To Haves

• Previous inpatient coding experience preferred.
