Requirements

• High School diploma required.
• Must hold at least one of the following credentials: RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CCA (Certified Coding Associate), CPC (Certified Professional Coder).
• Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
• Solid grasp of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines, CPT, and HCPCS.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code discharged inpatient encounters accurately.
• Utilize the Clintegrity encoder for precise Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) assignment.
• Work alongside Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) nurses.
• Clarify documentation with providers when needed.
• Assist with DRG appeals and meet established productivity and quality standards.
• Help the Coding Manager spot workflow problems or emerging trends.
• Maintain active coding knowledge, certifications, and expertise in Medicare rules.
