About The Position

This position is responsible for conducting sample preparation and analysis using the appropriate analytical methods. Requirements

  • University degree or a college diploma (preferably in chemistry, life sciences, or engineering).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in inorganic chemistry.
  • Experience if ICP OES/MS metals 3+ years
  • Experience in metals sample preparation including digested metals
  • Experience with the coordination of metals workflow
  • WHMIS and Safety training.
  • Computer literacy (basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills).
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills required for instrument maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience working with related instrumentation (e.g., ICP/MS, IC, spectrophotomer, etc.) and related software will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in using statistical analysis to evaluate data (e.g., the use of control charts) will be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard and its application would be considered an asset.
  • Root cause determination training would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample extractions according to applicable SOPs and test methods.
  • Perform sample analysis, integration, and data entry into the LIMS system.
  • Record data in control charts, and review for trends.
  • Where applicable, ensure that any drinking water adverse result is reported immediately to the Drinking Water Coordinator and the designate.
  • Ensure that all training is complete (e.g., in D4, Eurofins Academy, HR Downloads).
  • Perform method verification/validation procedures for applicable test methods.
  • Maintain good laboratory housekeeping at all times.
  • Perform regular instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
  • Keep track of consumables inventory and request supplies for ordering, as required.
  • Follow the quality system as documented in the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
