About The Position

The Innovative Learning Coach works collaboratively with teachers, staff, and leaders in the assigned Stafford County Public school(s) to support the implementation of innovative, research-based, instructional practices that promote student-centered deeper learning such as blended and project-based learning through the purposeful use of technology integration. The ILC provides leadership and job-embedded, ongoing professional learning experiences for teachers and staff through effective, non-evaluative coaching practices including assessing student and teacher needs, co-planning, modeling, co- teaching, assisting, observing, and providing feedback. Additionally, this individual develops model lessons and instructional products for use in the classroom. The Innovative Learning Coach’s work is guided by the Stafford Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision, the school’s Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP), the VDOE Profile of a Virginia Graduate, and the Innovative Learning Coach Competency Model.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least five (5) years of successful full-time teaching experience delivering and integrating relevant learning experiences with embedded instructional technology/innovation.
  • Two (2) years of professional development or coaching experience educating teachers or other adults in the integration of instructional pedagogies and/or instructional technology, innovative classroom practices and productivity.
  • Hold a current VA teaching license.
  • Knowledge of Instructional strategies for the adult learner
  • Knowledge of Develop complex instructional materials, documentation, and technical material.
  • Knowledge of Virginia SOL Curriculum, research-based and culturally responsive instructional strategies.
  • Knowledge of Process and strategies used in implementing instructional best practices of diverse populations of students.
  • Knowledge of Instructional design and assessments.
  • Knowledge of Digital Leadership and Digital Citizenship with Staff and Students by effectively communicating the importance of PII, FERPA, COPPA and software requests to all stakeholders
  • Skills in Effectively educate technology users
  • Skills in Present technical material to a diverse educational audience ranging from persons without high school diplomas to others with graduate degrees
  • Skills in Effective coaching techniques
  • Abilities to Quickly acquire new knowledge regarding technology and classroom innovation.
  • Abilities to Engage in a coaching cycle to listen effectively and accurately to determine the needs of the learner, and implement strategies to support the learning needs to be established.
  • Abilities to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with building administrators, and instructional and technical staff.
  • Abilities to Serve as liaison with the Department of Recruitment and Professional Learning to support building and division goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to instructional staff at assigned school
  • Establishes and advocates for an environment that encourages innovative, creative, and student-centered learning throughout the school.
  • Plans and implements job-embedded professional learning for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
  • Implements coaching cycles that support teachers’ ability to design, deliver, and assess learning experiences that promote innovation and the purposeful use of technology within the schools to support student learning.
  • Collaborates in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of instructional technology materials and software and conducts an analysis of school instructional technology use.
  • Conducts research about advancements in resources to inform decision- making.
  • Participates in, and supports the creation and implementation of a school plan for innovation and computer science that supports the school's Continuous School Improvement Plan (CSIP).
  • Support the integration of the Virginia Digital Learning Integration (DLI) standards and the Computer Science (CS) standards into teacher design of instruction and division level curriculum.
  • Along with other VDOE and Division goals and expectations within innovation and technology.
  • Regularly evaluates and reflects on professional practice and dispositions to improve and strengthen effectiveness to fulfill the ILC role.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development relevant to position.
  • Respond to written and oral requests for information promptly and thoroughly.
  • Maintain a clean, neat appearance and dress appropriate to position and duties.
  • Maintain a record of appropriate attendance and punctuality.
  • Serve as a role model for students, colleagues, and the general public.
