Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline with no experience required
- Exposure to probability, statistical analysis, and reliability engineering
- Ability to research and interpret data of minimal complexity using hypothesis generation and Design of Experiment methodologies
- Knowledge of software tools (Python, R, SQL, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of processes, costs, schedules, constraints, and deliverables of assigned crews to improve safety, process efficiencies, production rates, cost controls, and environmental protection
- Knowledge of equipment and associated SOPs at a crew level
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
- Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.

- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline

- Six Sigma experience or certification

Responsibilities
- Assists with the tracking and monitoring of the reliability and production of the plant or fleet and provides recommendations and guidance for execution of methods, engineering solutions, tactics, and strategies for enhancing overall reliability and production.
- Leads brainstorming and fact-finding sessions at the crew level.
- Researches proven external solutions to similar crew issues.
- Implements lessons learned and best practices from other sites and external parties at the crew level.
- Influences and motivates changes in operational behavior and processes.
- Makes observations, prepares reports, and conducts root cause analyses for the Senior Innovation Engineer regarding continuous improvement opportunities on assigned crews.
- Performs other duties as required.
