About The Position

Gilchrist County Road Department has a full-time opening for an Inmate Crew Leader. The ideal candidate will be dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while supervising inmate work crews in a safe and productive manner. This is a full-time position with benefits and is subject to a six-month probationary period. Gilchrist County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug-Free Workplace (EOE/DFWP). Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain clearance from the Florida Department of Corrections.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver License and have a good driving record.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting and strenuous physical work as needed.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow directions with minimal supervision.
  • Applications must include a copy of the applicant's valid Florida Driver License.
  • All applications must include a copy/photo of driver’s license.

  • Candidates claiming Veterans’ Preference must attach supporting documentation with each submission that includes all required documents as per Rule 55A-7, Florida Administrative Code.
