About The Position

This is an entry-level position focused on the operation of inkjet machines within the Lettershop Production department. The role involves assisting in set-ups and ensuring the quality and quantity of mail production.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-2 years of experience in direct mailing operations.
  • Ability to read a limited number of one & two syllable words, and to print & speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add & subtract two digit numbers and to multiply & divide with 10s & 100s.
  • Standing or walking most of the day.
  • May climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Regularly lift up to 25 pounds, often lift up to 40 lbs and rarely up to 70 lbs.
  • Constant use of hands and arms.
  • Regularly reach with hands and arms, including reaching above shoulder level (Lifting/reaching above shoulder level would seldom be more than 5-10 pounds).
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, & ability to focus.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and containerize all classes of mail.
  • Read and understand job instructions.
  • Check stock before setup to ensure it matches the piece description.
  • Properly and accurately download the correct data file for the job.
  • Properly and accurately set up the transport base for proper material handling.
  • Properly and accurately set up the Inkjet system for quality addressing with assistance from a level two/three operator.
  • Adjust the address block horizontally and vertically to meet job specifications and postal regulations.
  • Use Postal templates and other quality assurance tools at regular intervals to check label placement and barcode.
  • Be responsible for the quality and quantity of each assigned job.
  • Ensure the correct, accurate, and quality outcome of all tasks performed on the machine.
  • Immediately report any production issues to the shift supervisor or Inkjet Lead.
  • Learn to clean heads for optimum print quality with assistance from a level two/three operator.
  • Maintain production standards throughout the run.
  • Make computer and mechanical adjustments as needed with assistance from a two/three operator.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
