About The Position

This position will operate all WEM computer equipment to receive ingredients into the West Plant, Pelleting Process, Cracking and Flaking/Crimping process, and Batching texturized, whole grains and pelleted feeds to the packing line per Akralos specified feed formulation and quality procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, the operation of ingredient delivery equipment, WEM automated computes, batch mixing scales, cracker and flaker, pellet mill, liquid pumps, and other routing and distribution equipment for mixing. This is a 2nd shift role with a $2 and hour shift differential. The schedule is 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Ability to act in a professional manner and adhere by Akralos Code of Conduct.
Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces.
Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, and gloves when required.
Ability to work in hot, coldest, noisy, dusty, wet working conditions.
Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a manufacturing environment.
Self-motivated with a solid work ethic.
Good attitude and works well in team atmosphere.
Maintain excellent attendance.

Responsibilities

Operate all WEM computer equipment to receive ingredients into the West Plant, Pelleting Process, Cracking and Flaking/Crimping process, and Batching texturized, whole grains and pelleted feeds to the packing line per Akralos specified feed formulation and quality procedures.
Operate ingredient delivery equipment, WEM automated computes, batch mixing scales, cracker and flaker, pellet mill, liquid pumps, and other routing and distribution equipment for mixing.
Follow the expectations of all Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards.
Ensure product quality expectations are met.
Follow all facility Good Manufacturing Practices as required.
Ensure area is kept clean and completion of all listed housekeeping duties per the master sanitation schedule.
Work with other Operations colleagues to effectively communicate production issues.
Provide mentoring and training to new colleagues once qualified.
Work overtime as specified by management.
Attend training classes in-plant or at other locations as assigned.
Follow the production schedule to batch and mix all feeds on the schedule as needed in accordance with Akralos established feed formulation and quality guidelines.
Properly dump all hand add ingredients.
Flake and crack products according to Akralos specifications and according to inventory and customer demands.
Safely and efficiently operate all necessary equipment, including forklift and electric pallet jack.
Follow all established plant safety rules and utilize LOTO as required.
Support Quality control by checking weights, labeling, sequencing and clean-out procedures.
Perform physical tasks such as squatting, kneeling, pushing and overhead work during dye changes.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Meet productivity goals by completing runs within targeted hours and minimizing downtime.
Communicate ingredient shortages and all quality concerns to leadership.
Enter confined spaces and perform proper lock-out procedures.
Cross-train in other areas of the plant.
Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Leadership.
