About The Position

The Injection Molding Process Engineer will motivate and provide direction to Process Technicians, develop and maintain process standards, and review production records to resolve technical processing issues. This role involves specifying project management and buy-off of new equipment, managing the exploration of new materials and processes for optimal quality and reliability, and training mold setters. The engineer will verify and apply narrow process ranges, compile data for budget preparation and cost reduction, and work with tool shops for repairs and maintenance. They will also maintain documentation closely and follow timelines on specific projects. Essential common requirements include understanding and meeting quality, EHS, product safety, compliance, and information security requirements, as well as adhering to all company policies. The employee must be able to work additional hours/overtime as needed, multitask, interact professionally with external parties, and maintain predictable attendance. Safety rules must be enforced daily.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in Plastics / Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering, Technology Degree or similar. Equivalent work experience may also be considered.
  • 2-5 Minimum Years of Experience with Injection Molding with presses ranging from 85-3200 tons.
  • At least 2 Minimum Years of Experience within the automotive industry.
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants which might require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
  • Master-root cause troubleshooting with problem solving.
  • Experience with valve gate, hot runner systems, and scientific injection molding principals.
  • Desire to be hands on and overcome challenges that arise on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work additional hours and / or overtime as needed or assigned to complete job duties on time.
  • Ability to multitask, interact politely and professionally with customers, suppliers and vendors, and work cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain predictable and regular attendance, arrive to designated location on time, or be at assigned location ready to work for assignment (plant, corporate office, or remote).
  • English (Fluency with Reading, Writing, Speaking)

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and provide direction to the Process Technicians ensuring appropriate directions, training, and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain the process standards in which all parts are manufactured.
  • Review production and operating records and resolves technical processing issues.
  • Follow established action plans for processes out of range.
  • Specify project management and buy off of new equipment.
  • Manage exploration of new materials and processes in order to achieve the best quality, process, and reliability.
  • Motivate and train the mold setters, ensuring appropriate training and evaluation.
  • Verify and apply narrow ranges for optimum processes to meet customer expectations.
  • Compile data and analyse past and current information in order to assist in the preparation of the budget and reduce operational costs.
  • Work with tool shops for all tool repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain documentation closely, following necessary timelines on specific projects.
