The Injection Molding Process Engineer will monitor and analyze molding process performance for continuous improvement opportunities, researching and implementing cost reduction and product reliability solutions. This role involves training Process Techs, Mold Setters, and Color Coordinators, and assisting in establishing process control limits and standard work instructions. The engineer will also provide process information for time studies and accounting, develop and implement processing and tooling standards that promote SMED principles, and assist in layout, tooling design, and programming robotics for automated part removal and other post-molding operations. Recommendations and suggestions for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and troubleshooting molding defects are key responsibilities. The role also supports new product launches, APQP activities, and drives continuous improvement to reduce scrap, cycle time, and downtime. Root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, CAPA) are essential, as is collaboration with tooling teams on mold design, modifications, and maintenance. Monitoring and analyzing process data for stability and capability (Cp/Cpk) is also required, along with ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.
