Injection Molding Maintenance Technician- B Shift

About The Position

This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of injection molding production machinery, including horizontal injection molding machines, 3-axis robots, automated cells, material loaders, material dryers, water chillers, temperature control units, hot runner controllers, and end-of-arm tooling. The role requires maintaining equipment in good working condition, executing planned and corrective maintenance, analyzing existing custom production machinery for improvements, designing necessary custom parts, and collaborating with the Injection Molding Department to design efficient production layouts in a new facility. Additionally, this position is responsible for tooling changes, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs of injection molding tooling.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years experience working in a plastic transformation process such as injection molding, extrusion or blow molding.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a production environment repairing and maintaining injection molding machinery, injection molding tooling, robotic automation systems.
  • Excellent understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance processes.
  • Mechanical skills needed to perform maintenance and proven experience and ability in mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance troubleshooting techniques.
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles/concepts.
  • Able to read/comprehend instructions given through electronic/mechanical instruction books, including electric, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Familiarity with implementing or maintaining equipment and facilities based on ISO9001 or 13485.
  • Fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • Skilled in time management.
  • Skilled in multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrated customer problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn and perform primary functions of positions within department.
  • Ability to manage stress.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: walking; bending; pushing; pulling; sitting for extended periods of time at a desk using a computer, phone and headset; and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Position spends approximately 100% of time moving about the production area including walking, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, twisting, and leaning.
  • Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
  • Must work from the corporate office and be able to work on time on a regular basis during regular business hours.
  • Must be available for evening/weekend work as needed.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Preferably exposed to machinery brands such as ARBURG, Wittman and SEPRO.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled following proper lock out tag out procedures.
  • Performs corrective or reactive maintenance when a line is down.
  • Assists with changeovers of the machines as scheduled to accommodate the production schedule.
  • Adjusts the machines as necessary to maintain productivity.
  • Leads and supports continuous improvement projects.
  • Supports new employees on the proper training of using, troubleshooting, and maintaining the machinery.
  • Keeps spare parts and maintenance work bench and tool carts in order, clean, and safe.
  • Supports the safety committee to ensure all guidelines and regulations are followed.
  • Responsible for machine safety and proper operation.
  • Helps during the startup and shutdown procedures in production.
  • Fills out proper documentation when performing adjustments, preventive, or reactive maintenance.
  • Manages waste disposal and maintains proper documentation.
  • Assists with facilities maintenance as needed.
  • Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values and Purpose.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings, missing no more than 10% annually.
  • Clocks in and out for work and lunch with no more than 1 error per month.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.
  • Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.
  • Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.
  • Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.
