About The Position

This role requires advanced knowledge of machine operations, including starting, stopping, controlling cooling water, and adding blow agents. The operator will read work orders and specifications to understand job requirements such as spool types, pallet types, and stacking patterns. Responsibilities include depositing materials, entering commands for programmed instructions, performing quality control inspections, and troubleshooting minor machine and robot operational problems. The operator will respond to machine alarms, monitor robotic operations and controller for malfunctions, and notify supervisors of any issues. Additionally, the role involves stacking, wrapping, and labeling finished goods, maintaining cleanliness, and potentially performing simple machine maintenance and testing procedures. The operator is expected to be a positive example to co-workers in work ethic, teamwork, attendance, safety, and quality, and participate in shift change meetings. Forklift operation certification may be required, and adaptability to job changes is necessary.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Injection molding experience a plus
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude aimed at controlling and operating complex machinery
  • Time management skills
  • Critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate injection molding machines, including starting, stopping, controlling cooling water, and adding blow agents.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine job requirements.
  • Deposit materials into bins manually or using a hoist.
  • Enter commands to activate preprogrammed instructions from a computer.
  • Perform prescribed quality control inspections.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose minor machine and robot operational problems.
  • Respond appropriately to machine alarms.
  • Monitor robotic operation and machine controller for malfunctions and error messages.
  • Notify supervisor of programming or operating problems.
  • Stack, wrap, and label finished goods according to specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within prescribed areas.
  • Perform simple machine maintenance, such as cleaning.
  • Assist or perform testing procedures for changes to materials and finished goods.
  • Be a good example to co-workers regarding work ethic, teamwork, attendance, safety, and quality.
  • Attend and participate in morning meetings at shift change.
  • Become certified and operate a variety of forklifts (may be required).
  • Adapt to job changes as needed, depending on workflow.
