About The Position

The Injection Mold Process Technician is responsible for the proper set-up of Injection Mold machines, troubleshooting machine problems, and performing maintenance on secondary equipment. This role requires an individual to perform each essential requirement successfully, demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability. This document does not create an employment contract, other than an "at will" relationship.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 3 years or more of Injection Molding Set-up Operator, tooling process and procedures experience.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and other job specifications.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Database systems (M3); Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing level within normal/average range.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Respecting and ensuring respect for the instructions and rules established in the field of health, safety and the environment (in particular the LISI golden rules).
  • Immediately correcting, whenever possible, or reporting to superiors and/or the HSE department, any malfunction or risky situation in the fields of health, safety and environmental protection.
  • Implementing preventive actions to reduce the environmental footprint and control health and safety risks.
  • Participate, upon request, in analyses (of risks, incidents) and HSE working groups related to his/her professional scope.
  • Be familiar with the main health and safety risks and the main environmental impacts relating to the scope of his/her work.
  • Be familiar with the site's HSE policy and objectives.
  • To be able to make proposals for improving working conditions and limiting environmental impact.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate injection mold machines to produce thermoplastic resin molded products and parts for the aerospace industry.
  • Monitor and drive production, and work independently to perform machine changeovers, including successful start-up and shutdown.
  • Adjust machine according to job specifications; Manufacturing Order (M.O.), temperature, pressure, and process time.
  • Troubleshoot, determine root cause, and resolve machinery malfunctions such as jams and build-up.
  • Work with the maintenance department to identify any problems with machines and/or equipment.
  • Perform daily safety inspection checks to ensure safe operation of machinery.
  • Perform daily mold maintenance including cleaning of molds, greasing, and other various maintenance tasks. Change inserts and cores as required.
  • Perform daily and/or regular preventive maintenance on production equipment (injection molding machine, chiller, dryer, temperature control unit and material JIT system).
  • Visually inspect and measure all parts using various measurement tools according to specifications and blueprints. Identify defects and determine appropriate disposition.
  • Recognize non-conformances based on Company specifications such as dimensional and cosmetic issues, changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying the Supervisor.
  • Operate grinding machine to grind runners, and document material information for lot traceability.
  • Follow all 5S department procedures which include keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organizing part pans, and performing other housekeeping duties.
  • Attend all required job-related training (internal and external).
