About The Position

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is looking for a Senior Traffic Maintenance Engineer in the field of urban and transport infrastructure. Senior Traffic Maintenance Engineers will act as discipline leads for the Quebec City Tramway project. They will collaborate closely with other disciplines and construction teams. Their responsibilities will span all project phases, from preliminary design to construction site support. The Quebec City Tramway project, carried out under a progressive design-build model, is a major transportation infrastructure initiative in the heart of Quebec City. To guide the execution of this project, Kiewit is seeking qualified professionals eager to apply their expertise to the civil engineering works of this large-scale project. Selected individuals will have the opportunity to play a central role in the development and implementation of this unique project in Canada, contributing to the development and construction of essential infrastructure for sustainable urban mobility within a particularly motivating environment. Joining this tramway project at Kiewit means participating in a structuring project for the community, with a team recognized for its technical expertise in design-build, its collaborative approach, and its commitment to health, safety, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in a relevant discipline.
  • More than 10 years of experience in developing traffic maintenance plans.
  • Completion of AQTR training "Supervision and monitoring of road work signage" (STC-SUP-1) and "Management of road work impacts" (STC-GES-2).
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ); membership in another Canadian professional order is an asset.
  • Experience in design/construction projects is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the "Volume V - Road Signage" and "Volume VIII - Barrier Systems" from Publications du Québec.
  • Experience or knowledge of basic design of roads, pedestrian pathways, and cycle paths.
  • Experience in safety audits is an asset.
  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead.
  • Knowledge of design software, including Synchro, MicroStation, and AutoCAD.
  • Beneficial knowledge of HCS, GCC, VISSIM, EMME, and Aimsun software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in both English and French.
  • The position will be primarily performed at the Kiewit office, but the candidate must be able to travel to project sites and attend meetings across North America as required by projects.
  • Proficiency in French (spoken and written). Functional knowledge of English (written and spoken) is considered an asset as mobility and collaboration between Canadian provinces is required. Courses may be offered as needed.
  • Experience with AI agents and tools is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan workload and lead the activities of the team of engineers and technicians assigned to projects.
  • Design and develop various traffic maintenance projects.
  • Mentor and support team members in their professional development, promoting knowledge transfer and best practices.
  • Actively contribute to the production of technical deliverables, including study reports, specifications, plans, and construction phase monitoring.
  • Organize and lead coordination meetings, both internally and with clients, ensuring clear and structured communication.
  • Serve as a technical reference for the team and intervene in resolving complex issues.
  • Implement performance indicators to track deliverable progress and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Anticipate technical and organizational risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative climate and mobilize the team around project objectives.
