Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or geological engineering or in another relevant field and be a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec (O.I.Q.).
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in instrumentation and geotechnics related to the design, construction, monitoring, and follow-up of hydroelectric embankment structures.
  • Possess a valid Quebec Class 5 driver's license.
  • The selected candidate must be able to travel frequently in the region, throughout the service territory, and within the province by various means of transport, both air and land.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a master's degree in geotechnics.
  • Possess relevant experience in Hydro-Québec's structures.
  • Demonstrated mastery of computer systems related to the function.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the following behavioral competency: Autonomy.
  • Have an appropriate knowledge of the French language for the function.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze existing technical documentation, past behavior studies, results of visual inspections, and topographic and instrumental surveys of earth and rockfill dams to monitor and evaluate their behavior (embankment).
  • Perform statutory, particular, and special inspections of these structures in accordance with dam safety frameworks and methods.
  • Formulate, if necessary, the recommendations required to carry out maintenance and repair work on these structures.
  • Complete annually and keep up-to-date the structure's behavior sheet.
  • Provide civil technical support for these structures.
  • Participate in the technical training of technicians and dam inspectors.
  • Participate in the development of dam emergency measures.
