About The Position

Électro Composites is seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Product Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor and is crucial in the design and development of essential power transmission components such as high-voltage bushings, insulators, and other specialized equipment. The engineer will serve as a key technical contact, liaising between engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customer service to ensure products meet market expectations and exceed industry standards. The contribution will be vital throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to commercialization and beyond.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in product engineering and electrical design, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven expertise and experience in power transmission systems and high-voltage equipment
  • Solid knowledge of electrical principles, circuits, control systems, and components
  • Knowledge of insulating materials (epoxy, resin, composites) is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly
  • Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCad, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of electrical products, from design and development to market introduction and post-launch support.
  • Execute new product development and custom manufacturing projects.
  • Contribute to the development of manufacturing tooling for component production.
  • Utilize commercial design and analysis software to evaluate products.
  • Participate in the development of product specifications, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure product compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee qualification and routine testing to ensure product compliance and performance.
  • Mentor technicians during high-voltage testing.
  • Troubleshoot design issues, optimize product performance, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct failure analyses and write technical reports.
  • Review, validate, and approve design documentation, including technical drawings.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and the transfer to production.
  • Serve as the primary technical reference for products, providing essential technical support to internal teams (marketing, production) and customers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of products and processes.
  • Analyze customer and market feedback to identify trends and future product needs.
  • Work on engineering initiatives and represent the company in technical committees such as IEEE, CSA, etc.
  • Participate in the review of factory processes and propose optimization ideas.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and projects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate and select components, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
