About The Position

ArcelorMittal Exploitation minière Canada is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Process Engineer who acts as a technical expert in process safety and contributes to the identification, evaluation, and control of risks associated with facilities and operations. This role supports risk analyses, management of change (MOC), process safety information (PSI) development, and the implementation of control measures to prevent major incidents. Reporting to the PSM Director and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, the engineer participates in the continuous improvement of safety barriers, asset integrity, and the application of ArcelorMittal's PSM standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, metallurgical, mineral, industrial engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible to become one.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in process engineering in an industrial environment.
  • Experience in process risk management, risk analyses (PHA, HAZOP, What-If, LOPA), or process safety (a significant asset).
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, management of change (MOC), and asset integrity.
  • Experience in continuous improvement, complex problem-solving, and multidisciplinary project management.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and health and safety teams.
  • Knowledge of mining, concentration, pelletizing, or material handling processes (an asset).
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or training in process safety.
  • Experience with Bowtie, LOPA methodologies, or industrial risk management standards.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in process safety.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and reduce process-related risks.
  • Conduct and facilitate process risk analyses (PHA, HAZOP, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain process safety information (PSI).
  • Support the management of change (MOC) process for facilities and processes.
  • Define and ensure the effectiveness of major risk prevention and mitigation barriers.
  • Participate in projects, design reviews, and start-ups to integrate PSM requirements.
  • Analyze process incidents and near-misses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support audits, performance reviews, and continuous improvement of the PSM program.
  • Act as a consultant and promote a strong process safety culture.
