About The Position

Allstate’s Core Engineering & Platforms group is seeking a hands-on Lead Product Engineer for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The role is responsible for developing and adopting enterprise-scale infrastructure automation capabilities, including reusable solutions that let engineering teams provision, manage, and operate infrastructure through code. The engineer will translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable solutions and help transform infrastructure delivery from manual processes into a resilient, automated, software-defined operating model. The position owns the enterprise IaC strategy, standards, governance, and adoption roadmap. It builds automation frameworks, reusable modules, templates, blueprints, APIs, integrations, and self-service capabilities across hosted platforms. The role also advances CI/CD, security, compliance, testing, and deployment automation; applies AI-assisted engineering and Specification-Driven Design; and works with platform, server, security, networking, and application teams. It creates documentation, reference architectures, training, and enablement resources, while drawing on cross-domain infrastructure expertise to deliver curated platform products and improve operational resilience. This role has no supervisory duties.

  • Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code principles, patterns, and engineering practices.
  • Experience with continuous collaborative pair programming to solve technical challenges.
  • Strong experience building infrastructure automation solutions using tools such as Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, Env0, Puppet, or equivalent platforms.
  • Demonstrated success establishing and scaling enterprise infrastructure automation initiatives.
  • Strong software engineering mindset emphasizing maintainability, testing, version control, and automation.
  • Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments.
  • Knowledge of Git-based development workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, and code review practices.
  • Experience building reusable modules, templates, and shared automation services.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, identity management, and platform services.
  • Proven ability to influence engineering teams and drive adoption of technical standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical execution.
  • Five or more years of experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating LLMs, MCPs, AI agents, Copilot technologies, or workflow automation platforms into infrastructure engineering solutions.
  • Experience building AI-native infrastructure platforms with intelligent code generation, automated testing, policy validation, self-healing workflows, and predictive operational insights.
  • Experience enabling self-service capabilities through platform engineering or developer platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise Infrastructure as Code strategy, standards, governance, and adoption roadmap.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable infrastructure automation solutions across hosted platforms.
  • Build reusable modules, templates, blueprints, and self-service automation capabilities for infrastructure teams.
  • Develop automation using Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, Puppet, Rundeck, Python, or related technologies.
  • Apply AI-assisted engineering and Specification-Driven Design practices to improve delivery speed, consistency, and automation quality.
  • Account for responsible AI practices, security controls, governance, and risk management in enterprise automation platforms.
  • Design and develop APIs and integrations for infrastructure orchestration, provisioning, and platform services.
  • Drive CI/CD, security, compliance, testing, and deployment automation for infrastructure delivery.
  • Partner with platform product teams to accelerate IaC adoption and productize infrastructure capabilities.
  • Create documentation, reference architectures, training materials, and enablement programs for IaC tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering practices.
  • Use cross-domain knowledge of compute, networking, storage, security, identity, cloud, and infrastructure services to deliver curated platform products and improve operational resilience.
  • Collaborate with platform, server, security, networking, and application teams to automate infrastructure delivery.
  • Influence engineering teams and drive adoption of technical standards.

Benefits
