Summary: The Infrastructure Solutions Architect designs solutions that apply infrastructure and application best practices across business lines for cloud and on-premises deployments.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT or technical services experience, including infrastructure architecture across cloud, hybrid, and private hosting environments.
  • Strong experience with cloud services and platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent requests, projects, and responsibilities in a growth-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to leverage vendor and consultant expertise to support IT project delivery and operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
  • Strong leadership and customer-facing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with middleware technologies and databases.
  • Foundational knowledge of the following technology areas: Cloud services and platforms, Compute platforms, including Linux and Windows.
  • Networking technologies, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN.
  • Storage and backup technologies, including SAN environments.
  • Server and storage virtualization, including public, hybrid, and private cloud environments.
  • Web technologies, including web servers, application servers, and load balancers.
  • Security technologies and processes, including firewalls, intrusion prevention, compliance monitoring, and vulnerability management.

Responsibilities

  • Own infrastructure solution architecture for assigned projects, ensuring appropriate standards and processes are defined, established, and followed.
  • Lead the development of future-state business area architectures using enterprise architecture frameworks to create competitive advantage, manage costs, and optimize design.
  • Lead business area architecture gap analysis, including impact, ROI, time to benefit, strategic alignment, and roadmaps for expected changes.
  • Facilitate long-term architecture planning to align business product roadmaps with the ETS roadmap.
  • Partner with BU CIO teams to understand short- and long-term technical objectives, including product initiatives, sales pipeline activity, and other factors that may impact portfolio delivery.
  • Ensure designed or reviewed solutions meet architectural requirements for scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability, and security.
  • Apply broad expertise to integrate the IT technical vision across technologies, systems, and organizations.
  • Define how technology supports business objectives by conducting feasibility studies, developing high-level business models, preparing business cases, and assessing system implications.
  • Ensure business strategies, enterprise transformation activities, and technology direction remain aligned through effective strategies, policies, standards, and practices.
  • Set policy and strategy for selecting system architecture components and coordinate design activities to promote consistency and adherence to standards.
  • Coordinate the identification and assessment of emerging hardware, software, products, methods, and techniques, evaluating their relevance and briefing staff and management as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure, development, and PMO teams to meet tactical and strategic deliverables.
  • Develop architectures for complex systems that align with requirements agreed upon with internal customers.
  • Resolve challenges by analyzing issues, helping the team determine the best course of action, providing direction, and reallocating resources when needed.
  • Communicate effectively across all organizational levels, from BU CIOs and PMO leaders to infrastructure engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, forward-thinking judgment, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.
  • Provides technical oversight and guidance to deployment teams to support on-time, on-budget project implementation.
  • Serves as the technical escalation point to remove roadblocks, resolve issues and risks, and keep portfolio and project delivery on track.
  • Build strong relationships with development and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, issues are resolved, and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
