Job Title: Infrastructure Solutions Architect Location(s): Richmond, VA Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Solutions Architect to join the Solutions Engineering & Architecture Team (SEAT) as a Solutions Engineer. This role is responsible for evaluating, designing, and guiding the implementation of secure, scalable, interoperable, and supportable technology solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards. The Solutions Engineer will work closely with the Office of Information Management (OIM), infrastructure teams, cloud engineers, application developers, security teams, security teams, data teams, and enterprise architects to translate business and technical requirements into practical, actionable solution designs. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering expertise with architectural thinking and has experience designing and supporting modern infrastructure environments across both cloud and on-premises platforms. This position will play a key role in developing resilient, sustainable, and enterprise-ready technology solutions.

Requirements

• Strong experience in infrastructure engineering, solutions architecture, or infrastructure architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement enterprise-scale technology solutions.
• Hands-on experience with both cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture, integration, security, scalability, and high availability.
• Experience collaborating with infrastructure, application development, security, data, and enterprise architecture teams.
• Ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into clear and actionable technical designs.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with virtualization, compute, storage, networking, identity, and enterprise infrastructure services.
• Experience designing hybrid and multi-platform environments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps practices.
• Experience with security architecture, resiliency, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
• Experience working within enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and governance processes.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate business and technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive infrastructure and technology solution designs.
• Develop secure, scalable, highly available, and supportable architectures aligned with enterprise standards and technology strategies.
• Partner with OIM and cross-functional technology teams to define technical approaches and implementation roadmaps.
• Design solutions spanning cloud, on-premises, hybrid, networking, compute, storage, virtualization, and related infrastructure technologies.
• Collaborate with application, security, data, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams to ensure solutions are interoperable and operationally sustainable.
• Review existing environments and identify opportunities for modernization, optimization, standardization, and improved resiliency.
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical specifications, design documentation, and implementation guidance.
• Evaluate technology products, platforms, and services against enterprise requirements and architectural standards.
• Provide technical guidance during solution implementation and assist teams in resolving complex infrastructure and architecture challenges.
• Ensure proposed solutions address security, performance, availability, scalability, maintainability, and disaster recovery requirements.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical governance, and solution design discussions.
• Help establish and promote infrastructure architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
