About The Position

SHR Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support and manage the virtual infrastructure within a large and complex government IT enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise in virtualization technologies, enterprise server infrastructure, clustered environments, and virtual application delivery solutions supporting mission-critical operations. This role requires extensive experience with VMware technologies, enterprise virtualization platforms, storage integration, and infrastructure optimization in secure, high-availability environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or five (5) recent years of documented experience relevant to this position
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise virtual infrastructure environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing VMware technologies in large-scale enterprise environments
  • Experience with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) server hardware virtualization technologies
  • Knowledge and experience managing Nutanix AOS environments
  • Experience in maintaining applications and systems in clustered and highly available environments
  • Knowledge of Microsoft App-V, VMware ThinApp, Citrix, and other application virtualization technologies
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification required or ability to obtain within contract-specified timeframe
  • Proven technical expertise in the architecture, deployment, and sustainment of EMC VMware ESX virtual hosts, virtual machines, and SAN volume management
  • Strong understanding of enterprise virtualization, storage integration, and infrastructure management best practices
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery operations
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills in complex enterprise environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with Government leadership and technical teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical, and high-security operational environment
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance preferred or ability to obtain one, depending on contract requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II baseline certification requirements prior to start (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or equivalent). Computing Environment certification appropriate to the role is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support enterprise virtual infrastructure environments supporting mission-critical operations
  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain VMware virtualization platforms, ESX hosts, virtual machines, and supporting infrastructure
  • Support enterprise server virtualization and infrastructure modernization initiatives
  • Administer and maintain clustered application and system environments to ensure high availability and operational continuity
  • Manage and optimize enterprise storage integrations, including Storage Area Network (SAN) volume management and virtual storage configurations
  • Support Nutanix AOS administration and virtual infrastructure operations
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, utilization, and capacity to ensure optimal system performance and scalability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, virtualization, storage, and system performance issues
  • Coordinate with systems engineers, network engineers, cybersecurity teams, and Government stakeholders to support enterprise infrastructure requirements
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure solutions compliant with Federal and DoD guidance, policies, and cybersecurity standards
  • Support disaster recovery, failover testing, continuity of operations, and infrastructure resiliency activities
  • Manage and support application virtualization technologies, including Microsoft App-V, VMware ThinApp, Citrix, and related platforms
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, and configuration baselines
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and technical support personnel
  • Evaluate and recommend infrastructure hardware and software improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability
