About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. As a Biotechnology Subject Matter Expert with AMERICAN SYSTEMS, you will have the opportunity to support the Office of Critical Technologies as it guides and supports modern research and analysis of strategic biotechnology initiatives. You will advise top Pentagon leadership on biotechnology issues, work to evaluate and secure cutting-edge technology essential to the modernization of national strategy in defense, and represent USD R&E on Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). You will also participate in Government-approved conferences and forums, assist in preparing and conducting meetings for current Biotechnology issues, and conduct biotechnology research analysis. Additionally, you will develop and coordinate concepts and requirements for the application of current and emerging technologies as they apply to DoD's R&E program, assist in preparing presentations and reports to DoD leadership and outside DoD, track the department-wide budget for efforts aligning with Biotechnology, and maintain and update Biotechnology modernization roadmaps, coordinating them with key stakeholders. Finally, you will make recommendations to the development of Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) pertinent to mission needs and technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience of engineering, biotechnology, and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E)
  • Master’s degree in STEM and minimum of 5-years recent experience in biotechnology or an MBA degree
  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • Excellent writing, communication and briefing
  • Previous experience with: Department of Defense RDT&E mission and processes.
  • Engineering, analysis of alternatives, integration, requirements, and testing.
  • Biotechnology programs.
  • Biological and biotechnology experimentation
  • Experimentation of biological effects for RF and directed energy weapons
  • RF and directed energy capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Office of Critical Technologies as it guides and supports modern research and analysis of strategic biotechnology initiatives.
