Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated interest in waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
  • Ability to perform physical labour in a variety of weather and environmental conditions
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to interact with the public in a tactful, diplomatic, and professional manner
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s Licence

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Cochrane Eco Centre in alignment with municipal public-service standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Waste & Recycling staff with onsite collection, processing, sorting, and handling of recyclables and special waste materials.
  • Follow direction from the Eco Centre Team Lead and senior staff to monitor, sort, and process materials as required.
  • Support the safe operation of mobile and stationary equipment; conduct pre- and post-use inspections on equipment, vehicles, tools, and mechanical systems.
  • Assist residents with proper sorting, disposal of special waste, answering questions, and directing traffic within the facility.
  • Support the automated waste and recycling cart program, including cart inventory, assembly, delivery, and basic repairs.
  • Participate in the Town’s Health & Safety program, including inspections, preventative maintenance, hazard reporting, procedure development, and safety training.
  • Model the Town’s corporate values and the principles of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling in all aspects of the job.

Benefits

  • The hourly rate for this position is between $22.58/hr and 23.27/hr.
