The Department created a new Long Range Planning Division in 2026 to drive the integration of land use and infrastructure long range planning. The goals of infrastructure planning are to 1) plan infrastructure to drive growth aligned with the County’s future land use plan, 2) promote people-centered design for communities, and most importantly, 3) ensure county resources are invested efficiently and intentionally. The Infrastructure Planning Deputy Division Director will report to the Long Range Planning Division Director. The deputy division director will lead initiatives and develop tools and policies to ensure comprehensive infrastructure planning that is aligned with the County’s land use policies and priorities. This position will work closely with the County’s infrastructure departments, including the Department of Transportation, Department of Water Resources, and Department of Parks and Recreation, to develop infrastructure plans and priorities based on the County’s Unified Plan and detailed Small Area Plans. The initial scope for coordinated infrastructure planning includes water, sewer, stormwater, transportation, transit, and trails. This position will also work closely with other divisions within the Planning and Development Department to coordinate ordinance updates, develop policies, and support economic development and housing initiatives.
