About The Position

This role will perform administrative work in the coordination and navigation of the Construction Activity (CA) permitting, inspections, and close-out processes within the City’s Government Management System.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (AA/AS) and one year of experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Access and Word or similar software.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months to one year of experience working with plats and flood zone maps.
  • Familiarity with Tyler Technologies EnerGov Government Management System software or similar and Adobe Create Suite or Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the City’s Preconstruction Conferences including scheduling a multi-departmental meeting with applicants, providing meeting notes to city staff and applicants, and entering information into the City’s Government Management System.
  • Acts as the primary public contact for Construction Activity permitting throughout the development process from the pre-construction meeting to final CA Permit Close-out.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the Electric Document Management System.
  • Responsible for tracking infrastructure Performance and Warranty Bonds associated with Construction Activity permits
  • Maintains the filing and storage system for all Construction Activity permits via the Government Management system.
  • Works with other City departments to improve development review and inspection processes in EnerGov. This requires coordination and beta-testing Government Management System improvements/enhancements.
  • Represents the Department in the City Permit Center for inquiries on Permitting, Construction Activity processes, and associated job responsibilities.
  • Provides a high level of customer service to internal staff, engineers, surveyors, developers, consultants, contractors, and citizens. Proactively performs public outreach and communicates with applicants to explain construction activity permitting processes and resolve issues.
  • Identifies updates and improvements to be made to the City website(s) for the Department of Development Services.
  • Helps develop and improve related processes and SOPs.
  • Aids in the processing of encroachment permits and agreements throughout the City.
  • Calculates and communicates appropriate review fees to applicants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
