Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Economics, Public Finance, Business or related field, required
  • Interest and potential experience in capital improvement plans, financial planning for water agencies, State Departments of Water, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and/or municipal governments
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Position may require an individual with the ability to support interaction with clients

Responsibilities

  • Assist development of financial plans required under the State Revolving Fund Program
  • Assist in the identifying projects that would be competitive for grant programs included in the CA Climate Bonds/Proposition 4 as well as the BUILD AMERICA 250 Act and assist in writing grant applications.
  • Research and evaluate potential funding sources and financing strategies and assist in the development of financial strategies for water, both clean and drinking water, projects and short and long-range capital improvement programs - including transit, intercity passenger rail, toll and managed lanes, freight rail, active transportation, and airport projects across all phases of the project lifecycle—planning, design, construction and operations and maintenance.
  • Assist in the development of financial models involved in a utility rate study
  • Support studies involving analysis of financial, economic, and statistical data for infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct research analyses, including collecting and processing data, utilizing knowledge of available sources of financial and economic data.
  • Assist the development of solutions to address economic, financial, and policy issues impacting infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with diverse project teams (internal and external) for data collection, project development, and technical analysis
  • Research and write reports
  • Perform other duties as needed
