Infrastructure Engineer

OLIX•London, England

About The Position

OLIX is hiring a senior infrastructure engineer to own the internal platform used by engineering teams to build, test, and collaborate. The role spans AWS and on-premises compute, storage, networking, build and CI/CD systems, and platform security, in partnership with the IT & Security team, which owns identity, devices, and corporate security. The engineer will improve slow, manual, and loosely secured workflows, making them fast, reproducible, and secure. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role with the opportunity to define internal infrastructure and platform security from the ground up. The role supports development, simulation, and testing workloads for hardware, software, compiler, and other engineering groups. It includes building and operating a hybrid cloud and on-premises platform, improving developer self-service and delivery workflows, tuning performance, ensuring reliability and observability, protecting sensitive design data, and continuously removing infrastructure bottlenecks. OLIX describes the DX-1 as an accelerator architected specifically for decode, using rack-scale co-design of logic, data movement, packaging, optics, and interconnect. Compensation is commensurate with experience, skills, and location. The package includes meaningful stock options, an annual Living-Local Bonus for employees living within 20 minutes of the office, and employer-contributed retirement plans. Candidate eligibility is subject to U.S. export control regulations and the citizenship or permanent-residency restrictions described in the posting.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps/SRE engineering, with a track record of owning systems end to end.
  • Strong infrastructure-as-code and automation skills, including Terraform, Ansible, Python, and Bash.
  • Solid networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on AWS expertise and experience operating across hybrid cloud and on-premises or bare-metal environments.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure security, including IAM, secrets management, network security, and hardening across cloud and self-hosted systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including diagnosing and resolving complex cross-layer issues in a fast-moving environment.
  • Collaborative communication skills, including the ability to work with hardware and compiler engineers and clearly explain infrastructure trade-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, provision, and operate AWS, Kubernetes, and bare-metal infrastructure for development, simulation, and testing workloads.
  • Own infrastructure-as-code and provisioning pipelines using Terraform so environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and quick to create or remove.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD, internal tooling, and self-service workflows for hardware, software, and compiler engineers.
  • Optimize networking, including VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, and low-latency, high-bandwidth fabrics, as well as storage performance for engineering workloads.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning, and drive availability and performance across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Implement least-privilege cloud IAM, secrets management, data protection, and network segmentation across self-hosted and cloud infrastructure in partnership with IT & Security.
  • Provide isolated, independently scalable environments for engineering groups, with clear cost attribution and strong protection for sensitive design data.
  • Proactively identify and address bottlenecks, manual processes, and reliability gaps that slow engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Meaningful stock options.
  • Annual Living-Local Bonus for employees who reside within 20 minutes of the office.
  • Employer-contributed retirement plans.
