The Infrastructure Engineer designs and delivers infrastructure tools and services that support business strategies while adhering to architectural governance, standards, and policies. As part of a platform engineering team, the role helps build and evolve a self-service AWS platform for internal technology teams to deploy and operate services securely, consistently, and efficiently in a regulated financial environment. The engineer contributes reusable infrastructure services, Terraform modules, and automated delivery pipelines that form a cohesive platform offering. The role also develops templates, golden paths, playbooks, and automation for implementation, and continuously improves platform reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience.

Requirements

  • Significant experience writing HashiCorp Terraform configurations and modules.
  • Experience using Terraform Enterprise (TFE) for resource provisioning.
  • Experience with DevOps and GitOps models involving infrastructure as code, configuration as code, and policy as code.
  • Proficiency translating designs into fully developed Terraform code.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and the cloud adoption framework.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts, including subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and cloud security.
  • Experience building highly available IaaS and PaaS solutions in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Understanding of landing zones, cloud-native security, monitoring and logging tools, and Well-Architected Framework principles.
  • Experience with container-related technologies and CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, pipelines, and container repositories.
  • Experience with programming and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Java, and Python.
  • Experience with cloud logging, monitoring, and observability tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, such as Bash or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business and platform requirements into technical definitions, reference architectures, Terraform modules, and reusable platform patterns aligned with enterprise standards and policies.
  • Design, build, and maintain Terraform infrastructure as code for scalable, consistent, and compliant AWS provisioning, including modules, versioning, and environment strategies.
  • Contribute to a self-service AWS platform by creating standardized golden paths and templates for safe, efficient infrastructure deployment.
  • Develop and maintain GitHub Actions automation and CI/CD pipelines, including validation, security scanning, and controlled infrastructure deployments.
  • Embed security-by-design principles into platform services, including IAM best practices, encryption standards, and secure network architectures.
  • Support governance and guardrails to meet internal security, risk, and regulatory requirements in financial services.
  • Develop software and automation to eliminate manual processes and improve platform usability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate third-party tools and AWS services for alignment with platform standards, security requirements, and long-term strategy.
  • Collaborate with Technical Analysts, Infrastructure Engineers, and application teams to integrate solutions with the platform and meet engineering standards.
  • Contribute to defining and evaluating functional and non-functional platform requirements, including security, scalability, performance, and resilience.
  • Use AI/ML services to accelerate platform development, improve developer experience, and enable intelligent tooling and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based automation and tooling, including AWS Lambda-based workflows, to support platform capabilities and reduce manual operational effort.
  • Contribute to event-driven and serverless platform components using AWS services.
  • Support secure, scalable network architectures that align with cloud security and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter contributor in AWS, Terraform, and platform engineering practices, supporting internal teams adopting platform capabilities.
