Infrastructure Engineer, Vehicle Platform

Humble RoboticsSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

We're looking for an infrastructure engineer to help design, build, and scale the systems that connect our autonomous vehicles to everything else we do. You'll own the path that moves massive volumes of sensor data off our trucks and into our platform, integrate our software layer with the compute and sensors running on the vehicles, and be an important voice in the technical and organizational decisions that shape our work. Help us build reliable, performant, and secure infrastructure that every team at Humble Robotics can rely on. It's fun here. We are doing cool stuff. The ideal candidate is a first-principles thinker who is comfortable being a broad generalist. Design and own systems end to end, and work on every layer of the stack to help make the software and model iteration loop as fast and efficient as possible. We're a small team, and your input, experience, and knowledge will play a critical role in shaping every system we build, operate, and depend on to achieve our mission.

Requirements

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (we use Terraform and Ansible)
  • Expertise building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and managing deployments
  • Expertise in OS, networking, and security fundamentals including Linux administration, system and application performance tuning, enterprise networking, and the practical application of cryptography
  • Comfortable reading, writing, and extending non-trivial code within a production robotics/AV codebase (not just scripting)
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Prior infrastructure experience at an early-stage startup
  • Experience with high performance campus networking
  • Experience working with embedded compute and robotics systems
  • Comfort operating as an early team member—high ownership, low ego, fast iteration

Responsibilities

  • Build the data collection networking and infrastructure that offloads large volumes of sensor data reliably and at high throughput from our vehicles into our training platform
  • Collaborate with onboard and hardware teams to integrate our software layer with the compute, sensor, and navigation systems running on our autonomous vehicles
  • Partner with software and autonomy teams to translate their workflows into reliable infrastructure that accelerates everyone's work. Help teams iterate quickly and deploy software and models into the real world
  • Work closely with everyone at the company to create efficient workflows and maintain a high level of operational excellence for the vehicle fleet
  • Help every team member go fast, safely and smoothly
