About The Position

InfoWest is an Internet Service Provider based in St. George, Utah, serving communities throughout southern and central Utah, as well as Overton, Nevada, with wireless and fiber optic technologies. As a subsidiary of Boston Omaha Company (NYSE:BOC), InfoWest is rapidly expanding its fiber-optic services and is preparing for significant growth with increased construction, marketing, and sales budgets. This is an on-site, entry-level position for individuals interested in working as a fiber construction technician. The company operates a fiber optic network throughout southern Utah and is continuously expanding its infrastructure. InfoWest's objective is to 'Provide the Ultimate Internet Experience, one customer at a time' and is looking for individuals to help close the digital divide and achieve this goal by providing access to high-speed, reliable internet services.

Requirements

  • Rotational on call
  • Must have the physical ability and the willingness to climb towers.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to climb towers while adhering to all safety procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Respect and Courtesy of other team members and customers is required.
  • Previous experience using hand and power tools.
  • DC/AC electrical skills
  • Must pass a background check, MVR check, & drug screen.
  • Ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment, as necessary.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computing devices and routers.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have a Valid Drivers license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders and rooftops.
  • Ability to learn and to work with or without supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL a plus
  • Basic knowledge of AC and DC or low voltage wiring a plus.
  • Construction experience a plus.
  • Customer service experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • General labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor, including digging trenches, installing conduit, vaults, and pedestals, and working on towers.
  • Splice fiber optic cables.
  • Work around construction equipment such as bucket trucks and reel trailers.
  • Perform site clean-up.
  • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite.
  • Attend training and professional certification opportunities.
  • Attend safety meetings and training.
  • Follow OSHA and all other safety rules as well as related company policies at all times.
  • Use all prescribed safety equipment required to safely do the job.
  • Install/maintain wired and wireless internet equipment.
  • Maintain company-issued assets including tools, equipment & vehicles.
  • Install battery backups and grounding systems for equipment.
  • Equipment preparation.
  • Follow training protocols and perform the job safely.
  • Ability to work well with a team as well as independently when required.
  • Drive company vehicles.
