Infrastructure Automation Engineer
About The Position
Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an Infrastructure Automation Engineer with deep Terraform expertise to design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code foundations for cloud and hybrid environments. The role focuses on reusable Terraform modules, hardened automation pipelines, policy-as-code, and standardized infrastructure delivery across teams and cloud providers. The ideal candidate has production-scale Terraform experience, strong software engineering discipline, and experience operating infrastructure across many environments and accounts. This is a full-time, direct W2 role with Bright Vision Technologies in its in-house Statement of Work engagement. It is 100% remote within the Continental United States and is described as a long-term, multi-year position aligned to the company’s SOW delivery roadmap. No C2C, 1099, or third-party arrangements are accepted. New H1B sponsorship is unavailable, though qualified candidates who need an H1B transfer are welcome. A technical coding assessment is mandatory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in cloud infrastructure or DevOps engineering, with significant Terraform focus.
- Deep, hands-on experience authoring and maintaining production Terraform for at least one major cloud provider.
- Strong experience designing reusable Terraform modules with clean APIs and version discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform state management, backends, and large-scale workspace organization.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure code and automated policy enforcement.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity, and security primitives.
- Strong Git-based workflows, including code review, branching, and release management.
- Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Willingness to work as a full-time direct W2 employee of Bright Vision Technologies on its in-house SOW deliverables.
- Candidates must be confident in their technical abilities and hands-on experience and complete a mandatory technical coding assessment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with multi-cloud Terraform, such as AWS with Azure or AWS with GCP.
- Familiarity with Terragrunt, Atlantis, Spacelift, or env0.
- Experience with policy-as-code engines such as Sentinel, OPA, or Checkov.
- Contributions to public Terraform modules or providers.
- Exposure to FinOps practices and tagging-driven cost governance.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain modular, composable Terraform code covering infrastructure across cloud accounts and environments.
- Build and maintain well-tested reusable Terraform modules with clear interfaces, semantic versioning, and documentation.
- Implement Terraform automation pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Atlantis, Terraform Cloud, or Spacelift, including plan/apply gates, drift detection, and policy enforcement.
- Define and enforce policy-as-code using tools such as Sentinel, OPA, Conftest, or Checkov.
- Manage Terraform state at scale, including backend strategies, locking, workspace organization, and disaster recovery patterns.
- Drive multi-account, multi-region, and multi-cloud provisioning strategies with isolation, naming, and tagging standards.
- Implement infrastructure unit, integration, and policy testing across pull requests.
- Collaborate with security, networking, and platform teams to embed guardrails into reusable modules and pipelines.
- Standardize secrets management, identity federation, and least-privilege IAM through reusable Terraform abstractions.
- Lead migrations from legacy, ClickOps, or non-IaC infrastructure into Terraform-managed environments with minimal disruption.
- Drive cost optimization, tagging hygiene, and lifecycle management across Terraform-managed infrastructure.
- Mentor engineering teams on Terraform best practices, anti-patterns, and pull-request review standards.
- Maintain runbooks, architecture diagrams, and onboarding materials for the infrastructure platform.
- Monitor Terraform, OpenTofu, and broader IaC ecosystem developments and recommend useful adoption.
