About The Position

MetaPhase is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect with eight or more (8+) years of experience to support a high-impact federal transportation security program. This role will design, build, modernize, and support resilient infrastructure across on-premises data centers, cloud environments, hybrid architectures, and multi-site mission platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep technical experience designing infrastructure that meets performance, reliability, scalability, security, and cost requirements. This individual will understand when on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments are best suited to the mission, and will lead migration, modernization, disaster recovery, and multi-site architecture initiatives across complex federal environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight or more (8+) years of progressive experience in infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, cloud architecture, data center engineering, network engineering, or related IT disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building on-premises and cloud environments to meet both performance and cost requirements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud service models, infrastructure services, and hybrid architecture patterns, including when cloud, on-premises, or hybrid deployment is most appropriate.
  • Experience leading or materially supporting migration projects from on-premises environments into cloud platforms.
  • Experience with distributed systems architecture, including resilient application and infrastructure patterns across multiple environments or geographic sites.
  • Experience designing for disaster recovery, backup and recovery, high availability, failover, continuity of operations, and risk mitigation.
  • Hands-on experience installing and managing Dell enterprise hardware.
  • Hands-on experience installing, configuring, testing, deploying, and managing multi-site architectures.
  • Experience with compute, storage, virtualization, networking, firewalls, load balancing, identity/access, monitoring, patching, backup, and endpoint management.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, with federal or regulated cloud experience preferred.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation plans, migration plans, operational procedures, and engineering recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with infrastructure teams, cybersecurity teams, application teams, architects, federal stakeholders, and program leadership.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain federal suitability or Public Trust is required
  • U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting DHS, TSA, transportation security, airport operations, defense, law enforcement, or national security missions.
  • Experience with FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, RMF, ATO support, STIG hardening, POA&M remediation, or federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Linux, Windows Server, SQL Server, Oracle, or enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Experience with Azure Government, AWS GovCloud, or other government-approved cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure for operational technology, connected devices, edge environments, or mission equipment.
  • Experience with blue/green deployments, multi-data-center replication, SQL database replication, or active/passive failover models.
  • Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, Dell Technologies certification, CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Cloud+, Security+, or equivalent.
  • Active DHS suitability, Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and modernizing infrastructure architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Evaluating mission, performance, security, cost, scalability, and operational requirements to determine the best-fit infrastructure services and deployment model.
  • Leading infrastructure migration projects from legacy or on-premises environments into government-approved cloud platforms.
  • Designing and supporting hybrid architectures that integrate data centers, cloud services, networks, storage, compute, identity, monitoring, and endpoint environments.
  • Designing for disaster recovery, failover, continuity of operations, backup and recovery, resilience, and mitigation of infrastructure risk.
  • Architecting and supporting distributed systems across multi-site environments.
  • Installing, configuring, testing, deploying, and managing multi-site infrastructure architectures.
  • Installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Dell hardware, including servers, storage, rack infrastructure, and related enterprise components.
  • Supporting infrastructure capacity planning, performance tuning, availability planning, and lifecycle modernization.
  • Supporting infrastructure modernization activities including virtualization, containerization, automation, configuration management, cloud migration, and environment consolidation.
  • Developing infrastructure architecture diagrams, technical configuration documents, migration plans, disaster recovery plans, implementation plans, and operational runbooks.
  • Coordinating with cloud, cybersecurity, network, database, application, DevSecOps, and program management teams to ensure infrastructure solutions are secure, supportable, and aligned to mission needs.
  • Supporting development, integration, test, staging, production, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure issues across compute, storage, virtualization, networking, cloud, database platform, monitoring, and hardware layers.
  • Providing technical recommendations to improve system performance, reduce cost, increase reliability, simplify operations, and reduce technical debt.
  • Supporting release, deployment, and change management activities across controlled production and non-production environments.
