About The Position

The Infrastructure Administrator will support enterprise physical and virtual environments on cloud and on prem platforms. The Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for deploying, automating, monitoring, and supporting network, servers and applications in a cloud hosted environment. The Administrator will act as a liaison in meetings with vendors and development groups, bringing an operational perspective to the SDLC and taking away operations deliverables as needed. The Administrator will interact with internal customers supporting external customers, corporate and vendor IT staff to provide world-class production support. In addition, this position will provide System Monitoring to detect performance issues in managed physical and virtual machines.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of server/storage hardware and protocols (NFS, iSCSI).
  • Demonstrated scripting and automation skills (Perl, Bash, PHP, Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of security concepts. (i.e. Active Directory, NTFS permissions, security auditing, security user contexts, application layer vulnerabilities, etc.).
  • Understanding of cloud storage, network, and hardware technologies.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing and supporting IT Infrastructure in a mid-to-large scale Enterprise Environment data center environment.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of TCP/IP, netflow, access-control lists, policy-based routing, firewalls, peering, and DNS.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical certifications such as CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and recommend performance improvements to ensure high availability of infrastructure.
  • Serves as an escalation point for technical issues at the team level.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed-upon solutions and strategies.
  • Works with Storage & Virtualization Engineers to configure and troubleshoot application servers and the software running on them.
  • Handle ongoing maintenance e.g., firmware updates, hot fixes, software upgrades, etc.
  • Documents technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participates in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follows policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Stays current on industry trends and new technologies and recommends future initiatives.
  • Oversee administration functions such as network switch configurations, monitoring, patch/security updates, asset management, 24X7 support, etc.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
