About The Position

This position provides entry-level technical support to CVCOG employees and program and serves as a first point of contact for routine technology support requests and assists with the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and deployment of end-user technology. The position supports desktop and laptop computers, tablets, mobile phones, telephones, printers and multifunction devices, peripheral equipment, software applications, user accounts, wired and wireless connectivity, and VPN access. Support may be provided in person, by telephone, electronically, or through remote support tools at CVCOG facilities throughout the Concho Valley region. Working under the direction of the IT Manager and in coordination with other IT staff, the System Support Technician documents support activities, follows established IT and cybersecurity procedures, escalates issues when appropriate, and assists with technology deployments, equipment inventory, and other departmental projects. This position is intended to develop progressively broader technical knowledge and responsibility through hands-on experience, training, and collaboration with experienced IT staff.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent is required.
  • Valid and current Texas Driver's License and ability to maintain all requirements associated with a valid license.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks and screenings and continued eligibility to work in programs and facilities subject to applicable federal, state, and organizational requirements.
  • Entry-level knowledge or experience in computer hardware and peripheral installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Entry-level knowledge or experience in workstation and mobile operating system/software setup and troubleshooting, including Windows, macOS, and Android.
  • Entry-level knowledge or experience in Microsoft 365 applications and basic user support, including account credentials, permissions, Office applications, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Entry-level knowledge or experience in IT service management or ticketing systems such as Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or similar systems.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework, technical training, or an associate degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Networking, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant education, technical training, certifications, internships, work-study assignments, military service, volunteer experience, or demonstrated hands-on technology experience may be considered in lieu of formal information technology work experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Fundamentals, Google IT Support Professional Certificate, or comparable industry certification.
