About The Position

Sutter County Department of General Services is currently recruiting for multiple Information Technology Support Specialists I/II/III to join their team. This position is on-site only and not remote. All interviews will be conducted in person. Job Summary The Information Technology Support Specialist I - Under general supervision, to analyze, investigate and resolve computer-related problems on a departmental level; install hardware and software; improve and modify systems; provide training and instruction on specific departmental programs and procedures; coordinate and facilitate the use of county and state systems and programs. The Information Technology Support Specialist II - Under general supervision, provides or assists in providing technical automation support to County departments in selection, configuration, installation, analysis and maintenance of automation hardware and software; may train and advise users in the use of personal computer equipment and programs; and provides support for personal computer users. The Information Technology Support Specialist III - Under direction, provides technical automation support to County departments in selection, configuration, installation, analysis and maintenance of automation hardware and software; trains and advises customers in the use of personal computer equipment and programs; and provides support for personal computer users. Class Characteristics The Information Technology Support Specialist I is a journey level sup-professional classification. Incumbents are required to apply knowledge of relevant department, county and state programs and systems, computer hardware equipment and software applications. The Information Technology Support Specialist I provides functional direction and training to a variety of department staff relating to information system functions of the specific department programs and procedures. This is the first level classification in the IT Support Specialist series performing sub-professional duties and responsibilities at the departmental level. The Information Technology Support Specialist II is the first professional-level classification in the Information Technology Support Specialist series. Incumbents in this class assist in performing and perform a broad range of personal computer support duties requiring specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work under general supervision with some independence exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive instruction, direction and/or assistance as necessary. This classification is distinguished from the next lower level classification of IT Support Specialist I in the broader, county-wide professional level duties and responsibilities, but does not function at the full journey level of the professional level IT Support Specialist III. The Information Technology Support Specialist III is the full journey-level classification in the Information Technology Support Specialist series performing the full range of professional-level personal computer support duties requiring highly specialized knowledge, skills and abilities. Incumbents in this class work independently and exercise judgment and initiative, receiving only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise. Work is judged on overall results with latitude in determining work methods and assignment requirements. Incumbent may provide training and serve as a lead worker for the lower-level classifications of Information Technology Support Specialist I and II. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill any future opening(s), including Part-Time and Extra Help, in this class for up to six months.

Requirements
