About The Position

Under general supervision, this position provides a variety of services in support of the Court’s Information Technology (IT) systems, databases, and department operations. The role involves diagnosing and repairing computers and peripherals, identifying operational issues, and recommending changes to improve operations. This includes coordinating the operation and maintenance of assigned IT databases and software applications, managing the development and integration of application software and security solutions, and planning and developing database solutions. The specialist will monitor IT operations and recommend policies for data privacy and security, create local user accounts and profiles, monitor utilization trends and security procedures, and manage user accounts, security, and access rights. Verification of inter-related databases and IT systems functionality, and recommendations for improvement are also key aspects. The role requires setting up, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing IT applications and equipment, verifying data accuracy, performing backups, and maintaining code tables and operating systems. It also involves overseeing maintenance agreements, serving as a liaison between the Court and state/regional justice agencies, attending meetings, identifying training needs, presenting orientation and training sessions, and updating training materials. Writing and maintaining automation-related policies, procedures, and manuals, assessing, purchasing, and installing hardware/software, troubleshooting systems, and authorizing outside contract repairs are also part of the duties. The position requires installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and other equipment. Travel to different court departments for training or technical assistance may be necessary. The role includes creating and managing databases, procedures, and documentation, maintaining an equipment inventory, and assisting with website maintenance. Related duties as required or assigned are also included.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field; AND two years of IT system support and training experience, or closely related duties; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Pass extensive criminal background checks.
  • Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
  • Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET) yearly accreditation.
  • Knowledge of State of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, policies and procedures, and applicable federal rules and requirements.
  • Knowledge of Yuma County and Superior Court policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Superior Court in Yuma County- Rules of the Judicial Merit System and the Code of Conduct for Judicial Employees.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems planning, technical support, and training functions.
  • Knowledge of Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) specialized software applications.
  • Knowledge of data base organization, access, and retrieval techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic research techniques, methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of case flow and records management.
  • Skills in interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Skills in working under pressure in a dynamic work environment with changing demands and priorities.
  • Skills in maintaining, configuring and testing relational database systems, network operating systems, and other applications unique to Superior Court.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the operation and maintenance of assigned IT databases and software applications.
