About The Position

As a member of the WPS IT helpdesk team, the IT Specialist provides critically important front-line hardware and software support to WPS staff. IT Specialists are the centralized point of contact and control for incoming requests, issues, and problem resolutions, and as such, work with and support all staff members and technologies within the Windsor Police Service.

Requirements

• Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
• Community College Diploma (2 or 3 years) in an information technology related discipline, including coursework related to IT hardware and software support, or University Degree in an information technology related discipline.
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with implementing, supporting and troubleshooting hardware, software, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices.
• General knowledge and experience with networking concepts.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Strong problem solving and problem management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple technical initiatives independently and as a part of a team.
• Minimum of 1 – 2 years relevant work experience in a computer related discipline.
• Successful completion of a thorough background investigation and pre-employment medical.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a helpdesk environment.
• Basic coding / scripting experience.
• A+ Certification and similar.
