For more details see https://www.itw.com/careers/benefits-compensation/ The IT Manager is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and supporting all IT systems and infrastructure for a large single-site manufacturing facility operating within a global organization. This role ensures reliable, secure, and cost-effective technology operations while supporting business applications and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required.
  • 7-10 years of progressive IT management experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, networking, telephony, endpoints, and application servers required.
  • Experience with Microsoft backend stack and development tools, including Windows Server 2019 or later, Microsoft 365, and SQL Server required.
  • Proven project management experience, leading initiatives from planning through execution required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction while meeting deadlines and driving results required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills from users to c-level execs within a collaborative, team-oriented approach required.

Nice To Haves

  • ERP implementation experience in manufacturing strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive IT strategy in alignment with business goals by assessing current capabilities, identifying gaps, and implementing technology solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and support future growth.
  • Own end-to-end IT infrastructure operations including servers, networks, storage, endpoints, telecommunications, wireless, and mobile technologies; ensure systems are secure, current, and aligned with business needs through proactive monitoring, lifecycle management, and capacity planning.
  • Direct and optimize core enterprise systems such as Active Directory, firewalls, remote access, email, file services, and telephony to maintain high availability, performance, and security.
  • Ensure cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery programs by enforcing standards, monitoring risks, validating recovery readiness, and driving continuous improvements to protect business continuity.
  • Manage the full business application environment, consultants and services including ERP, third-party bolt-ons, customizations, reporting, and system enhancements to ensure stability, usability, and alignment with operational requirements.
  • Provide leadership for ERP initiatives including selection support, implementation, upgrades, integrations, and ongoing optimization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Oversee IT vendors and service providers by managing contracts, monitoring SLAs, controlling costs, and ensuring timely delivery and support across telecom, hardware, software, network, and programming resources.
  • Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, and departmental goals that support compliance, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Continuously evaluate the technology landscape to identify risks, modernization opportunities, and practical improvements that enhance reliability and business value.
  • Partner with department leaders to gather requirements, prioritize system enhancements, and translate operational needs into practical technology solutions that improve efficiency and visibility.
  • Drive IT project execution by planning, prioritizing, and delivering initiatives on schedule and within scope while meeting performance expectations.
  • Develop, mentor, and supervise IT staff while establishing clear priorities, building technical capability, and fostering a responsive service culture.
