About The Position

The Internal Audit Department at Great American Insurance Group is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Audit Intern for the Summer and/or Fall 2027 Semester(s). This role will assist in safeguarding assets and ensuring the reliability of company records for American Financial Group, Great American Insurance Group, and their subsidiaries by participating in audits. The intern will work closely with audit management to conduct internal audit engagements, participate in audits of applications, operating systems, platforms, and operating procedures, and assist with IT audits and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance reviews. Responsibilities include evaluating IT infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness, identifying and testing IT controls and processes, gathering data, documenting concerns, and contributing to audit reports. The intern will also collaborate with senior auditors and external partners, and assist in designing and implementing AI and agentic automation solutions. Additionally, the intern will meet with company leaders as part of the Summer Intern Program and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business/Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, or Business.
Current/most recent GPA of 3.25 or above.
Familiar with business systems and technology concepts.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to utilize critical thinking and technical aptitude to draw conclusions based on the information presented.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems of a moderate complexity independently.
Ability and willingness to work well in teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Experience with data analysis tools (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Snowflake, Informatica IDCM).

Responsibilities

Assist in the safeguarding of assets and the reliability of company records.
Conduct internal audit engagements at Great American Insurance Group and its subsidiaries.
Participate in simple to moderately complex audits of application, operating systems, platforms, and operating procedures.
Assist with conducting IT audits and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance reviews.
Assist with evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT infrastructure.
Attend process walkthrough meetings.
Assist in identifying and testing IT and automated controls and processes in various system environments.
Support the gathering of relevant data and help document areas of concern or potential risk.
Contribute to the development of audit reports that outline key findings, offer recommendations, and suggest corrective actions.
Collaborate with senior auditors on IT-related matters.
Assist in coordinating with external audit partners.
Collaborate with team members to design and implement AI and agentic automation solutions.
Meet with company leaders as part of the Summer Intern Program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
