About The Position

The Information Technology Specialist – Audio Visual (AV) & Helpdesk Support is responsible for providing technical support for end users while managing and maintaining the City’s audio-visual systems. This role ensures reliable operation of IT infrastructure, conference room technology, presentation systems, and end-user devices. The ideal candidate combines strong customer service skills with hands-on AV and IT troubleshooting experience.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Android, macOS/iOS environments.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
  • Experience with Active Directory and user account management.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling and AV signal types (HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI, etc.).
  • Understanding of video conferencing hardware and software platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of IT helpdesk experience.
  • 1+ year of hands-on AV systems support experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AV control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX) preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ or Network+.
  • AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist).
  • Microsoft 365 or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as first and second-level support for hardware, software, and audio/visual related issues.
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and peripherals.
  • Manage user accounts in Active Directory, Microsoft 365, or similar platforms.
  • Provide onboarding and offboarding technical support for employees.
  • Document issues, resolutions, and procedures in ticketing systems and knowledge bases.
  • Install, configure, and maintain conference room AV systems (projectors, displays, video conferencing equipment, microphones, speakers, control systems).
  • Support video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and WebEx.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and signal flow issues related to AV equipment.
  • Coordinate and provide technical support for meetings, events, and presentations as well as routine maintenance and testing of AV systems.
  • Work with vendors for installation, upgrades, and repairs as needed.
  • Assist in planning and designing AV solutions for new or renovated spaces.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
