About The Position

Through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program, GDIT offers transitioning service members the opportunity to gain hands-on training and professional experience as an Information Technology/Assurance (IT/IA) Specialist II Fellow, supporting Special Access Program (SAP), SCI, and collateral cybersecurity operations in a mission-critical environment. In this Fellowship, the participant will gain exposure to cybersecurity operations supporting SAP, SCI, and collateral systems, including authorization package development, secure system configuration, RMF-aligned compliance activities, vulnerability identification, and daily cybersecurity monitoring. Fellow will work alongside experienced Information System Security professionals to develop foundational expertise in system administration, cyber defense analysis, and secure system lifecycle management. The Information Technology/Assurance (IT/IA) Specialist II Fellow will learn how cybersecurity requirements are applied to complex classified environments while contributing to system maintenance, configuration management, documentation control, and cybersecurity inspection activities across multiple authorization boundaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree + 2 years’ experience OR 4 years’ equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • SAP experience required.
  • Background in System Administration, Network Administration, or IT/IA specialist roles.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010/2016, and Windows 7/10 administration.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, COMSEC integration, and data backup technologies.
  • Familiarity with RMF, SCI security standards, Common Criteria, and Assessment & Authorization processes.
  • Experience with PL2 systems; exposure to PL3/PL4 cross-domain solutions desired.
  • Strong troubleshooting, system configuration, and maintenance skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a classified technical environment.
  • Active TS/SCI.
  • Eligibility for SAP access.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • On-site attendance at customer site in Colorado Springs, CO.
  • Fellowship duration aligned with SkillBridge requirements.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Can participate within the last 6 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAP/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoW SkillBridge Program prior to start of the fellowship.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to establishing and maintaining operational software configuration controls and system interfaces.
  • Participate in administering file servers, firewalls, network access devices, Security Monitoring Systems, and system documentation.
  • Analyze system anomalies under guidance to help ensure optimal system performance.
  • Prepare systems for operational use and engage in operational system testing activities.
  • Develop authorization documentation and update Bodies of Evidence (BoE) in alignment with RMF and customer security requirements.
  • Document system changes that may impact authorization status and coordinate updates with security leadership.
  • Execute cybersecurity self-inspection tasks and maintain compliance checklists.
  • Identify potential vulnerabilities and assist in implementing cybersecurity countermeasures.
  • Maintain secure operation, configuration, and disposal of information systems and network appliances per security policy.
  • Administer Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems, scheduling, and configurations.
  • Provide client support for External Information Systems.
  • Support account creation, modification, and removal across multiple authorization boundaries.
  • Troubleshoot issues through Help Desk activities and provide technical support to users.
  • Configure and update hardware/software systems, including upgrades and modifications.
  • Apply system and network appliance patches and maintain patch compliance records.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot government-issued laptops.
  • Execute media control and accountability procedures.
  • Assist with COMSEC account responsibilities and equipment tracking.
